What to ask a Bernese Mountain Dog breeder
Ask for both parents' results for OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, Cardiac OFA, DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), VWD (Von Willebrand Disease). Results should be checkable by OFA or registry number, not a verbal assurance.
Breeder licensing in Colorado
Colorado requires a PACFA license of any person breeding or raising dogs to sell. Small-scale is up to 99 dogs per year; large-scale is 100 or more.
2 of 9 breeders here are matched to an active PACFA license record
No state issues a breed-specific breeder license, and a state license never replaces a USDA license or local zoning.
