I can recommend Vom Zeder Haus and Edward Denny without reservation or equivocation because of their exceptional German Shepherd puppies and for their unconventional business approach to breeding and advocating for these noble animals. At first blush it may seem easy to see Edward is different than some other breeders but after extensive research and consultation with animal professionals, and based upon my own experience with the breed, I think he has it right. When I decided to replace my GSD I spent 12 months searching for just the right kennel for the job. I spoke to a dozen breeders in six states and they all offered dogs from litters on a first come, first serve basis if you pay their fee (and after they take the first picks from the litter). On the other hand, Edward promised me that I might have a pup in 18 months “if he decided to accept my deposit.” The way I saw it was that, I could wait for the right GSD! Turns out our wait was shorter but we got exactly what we were willing to wait for. Edward also was clear up front (and since then) about the care of our GSD. He makes a convincing case against the American Veterinary industry. We’ve experienced it first-hand with our prior GSD and even with the current dog. Since we have taken delivery of our GSD our selected Vet has called Xavo “an impressive German Shepherd dog” and commended his qualities including his feet, bone structure, skin, coat, eyes and teeth. The Vet complimented me by saying that “You know how to pick a dog” but they didn’t back down on that compliment when I explained that the breeder picked this dog for us. Our Vet has even complimented Edward’s general philosophy on how to care for his animals. This singular comment has reinforced my decision to work with Edward Denny and Vom Zeder Haus. I have yet to encounter a single thing that Edward has said or done that strays from what I understood in the first place when we first talked, and when we first met. There is one thing you get with Edward that is worth the experience and separates Edward from other breeders: Edward is eager to stay involved in the care and loving of his GSD placements for the length of their life. His lifelong commitment to us as “dog parents” and to Xavo has been evident with every single call we’ve made to him since delivery. For what I have been told, for what I have paid, and for the GSD I was provided, a person simply can’t do better than doing business with Vom Zeder Haus and Edward Denny. It is rare in this day and age to get the commitment and devotion my wife and I got when we took ownership of Xavo but Edward has earned our respect and admiration and our recommendation whenever someone mentions their interest in getting a GSD puppy.

We got our Paz from VZH in January 2020. We was on the waiting list for well over a year. The wait while long was extremely worth it. Edward has never failed to answer calls,texts, or email with our questions. His knowledge of the breed is very impressive. Our pup Paz is an amazing pup, very healthy smart and maybe most important the perfect temperament. He loves to play fetch and tug. I will add a few photos so you can see him. He is a pleasure but also a commitment; he is active and smart. He was very easy to potty train and has learned very good manners, he comes, sits and goes to place when told. He also rings a bell to tell us when he needs to go out to potty. He is 5 months old and has shown protection tendencies but will play with my 2 and 6 year old nieces and is so gentle with them. I highly recommend Edward and his dogs. You won’t regret it if you are looking for a real deal GSD that can be a multipurpose dog. As perfect as a dog can get in my opinion.

Edward Denny has invested a lifetime studying and improving the German Shepherd breed. He doesn’t do anything else. He is very passionate about the German Shepherd. Our experience has been nothing but positive. His dogs are off of European stock. His dogs have drive and excellent health. On one of our visits we played with 5 healthy females over 12 years of age. Our Diesel is 21 weeks old, he is gorgeous, full of life and mischief. He is smart, sometimes I think smarter than me. We took some time researching for a place to get a quality shepherd as there are many breeders that breed inferior dogs. For us VZH was the right place. I might add that I have had and trained shepherds in the past and none have come close to this dog. My plans are to compete with him in a variety of venues and I believe I have the right dog to do that. I would definitely recommend Mr. Denny if you want a quality dog.

My husband and I have talked about the German Shepherd breed and how we would like to own one since pretty much the day we met each other. Once we felt ready to bring a new member into our family we started researching and luckily found Edward Denny. I had no idea the amount of education we were about to receive. I realized I'd probably never even seen an authentic GSD before! Had we not stumbled upon his website and just went with a local "breeder" we most likely would have ended up with a very watered down version of the breed who only had the appearance of the German Shepherd. During our kennel visit I was amazed with how much there was to learn about the breed, the American veterinary system and also the way Edward cares for his dogs. He calls them "Organic" which I think is a very fair representation of his whole approach. I could tell after our visit that this was much more to Edward than a business. These dogs are his life and the preservation of the breed is the true passion here. We waited what seemed like a very long time to go back and meet our boy Hatchet. Mainly because I was so excited I counted down the days! With that said, I would've waited double the time to end up with the pup that we did. Hatchet is everything we hoped for and Edward has continued to exceed our expectations. From an educational standpoint, to a trusted source whenever you have a question or concern he's got you covered. The website alone is a must read for the abundance of information and background on the true breed. America needs more breeders like this; ones who are truly out to see the dog succeed rather than deposit a check from anyone they can. It's only been a couple of weeks but I am thrilled to see our boy grow into the awesome dog that he was meant to be. He will be much more than a dog to us, just like all of the dogs at VZH are to Edward. Who knows, maybe one day he will end up with a brother or a sister. One thing is for certain, they will be from Vom Zeder Haus. The whole experience has been truly inspiring. Thank you Edward!
