What to ask a Dachshund breeder
Ask for both parents' results for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy), Patellar Luxation, IVDD Risk (FGF4), Eye CERF. Results should be checkable by OFA or registry number, not a verbal assurance.
Breeder licensing in Ohio
Ohio requires a high volume breeder license of a person who keeps 6 or more breeding dogs and does any of the following: sells 5 or more adult dogs or puppies to brokers or pet stores in a calendar year; sells 40 or more puppies to the public in a calendar year; or keeps more than 40 puppies under 4 months bred on the premises.

No state issues a breed-specific breeder license, and a state license never replaces a USDA license or local zoning.
