The audacity. It has been ~2.5 years since I went to WHAH, but recent developments prompted this review. I originally went there for an international health certificate for my cat and dog to travel overseas. The vet told me my dog, a rottie mix, was actually a full pitbull and would be euthanized at the border. She suggested I rehome or euthanize. I told her I have my dog’s breed and that her advice was not only aggressively doomsayer-coded but was also wrong. She said that she asked everyone in the clinic and because they all agreed on pitbull, pitbull it is. I went to another hospital to finish the international requirements without issue. Today, two and half years later, the clinic saw fit to call me and tell me that years later my pets are due for vaccines. The willful ignorance of this clinic proves that patients are not individuals in need of care, but quotas in need of filling. Don’t go here. There are many GPs in the west LA area that are better in quality and care than WHAH.

I have been coming to West Hollywood Animal Hospital with my cat for a very long time, and have always been thrilled with the care she's received there. This week, however, I had an interaction that made me a little embarrassed that I have not reviewed them in the past. My very old cat had an emergency GI issue (aka the dreaded "very expensive bowel movement") -- after a long night at MASH, I brought her in to WHAH for a follow up the next day, and then for a second follow up the day after that. Doctors Hammer and Chapman were beyond excellent -- both spent an insane amount of time going over every facet of the issue and potential treatment plan (and, frankly, calming my own wrecked nerves). Gio and Karen, the techs were also fabulous -- patient not only with my cranky cat, but with me. Everyone was extremely attentive, from consultation to follow-ups (both via phone and email). They were completely patient about going over pricing (which was extremely fair, especially considering the level of service). This is the first real "medical situation" I've had with my cat -- it's been mostly check-ups to this point -- and it was a perfect example of why WHAH is such a wonderful place. I couldn't have asked for better veterinary care (with a side of human therapy thrown in). I would never want to bring an animal to any other practice in LA. I really don't have enough good things to say about the team here -- these guys are truly THE BEST.

My dog has been seeing Dr. Revel since he was just a baby. He is now 12 years old. I thought she was wonderful until two weeks ago - when my dog had a seizure and i called back needing urgent neurologist recommendations - and she hasn’t even called me to see how he is doing or if he’s ok or if we need anything. How cold. Zero stars.

I submitted a request for my dog's medication that he gets every month. Six days later and West Hollywood Animal Hospital had not yet approved the prescription. Chewy had already submitted the request multiple times but could not call because the vet only excepts faxes. I called them around 1:30pm and I was told the vet was on lunch and they would get back to me. I called again around 3:20pm and was told the vet was still on lunch. After calling multiple times I was finally able to speak to the vet 15 minutes before they closed. She apologized and reassured me it would be approved before they left. That never happened and the clinic was closed the next day. I ended up having to take my dog to a new vet called Modern Animal. I took him on a Sunday and they approved it the same day. If you're looking for a good vet in Los Angeles please avoid West Hollywood Animal Hospital. They seem to care more about making money than helping your pet. I've had several issues with them in the past but kept giving them a chance but this was the last straw. They charge $300+ for a simple urinalysis test that cost $126 at Modern Animal, you can't go inside the building without wearing a mask, and they are very unresponsive.

When you own Chihuahuas you don't mess around when it comes to keeping their teeth clean. This is what a thorough and legitimate canine dentistry looks like. While your dog sleeps peacefully, they get the same high-quality cleaning, polishing and x-rays that you do when you go to your own dentist. There's a reason I drive from an hour away to West Hollywood Animal Hospital for this high level of care.
