VCA Civano Animal Hospital and Emergency Center

Took my cat there because she hat gastro problems and was throwing up with a tinch of red in it. Never saw the vet only the technician. After the technician taking my cat into the back the technician came back with don't know why your cat is throwing up but want to keep her for 24 hours to monitor her. Then the tech present the estimate which was over $9k without any information what would be done for treating her. This is not vet care this is just about making money and taking advantage of people who are worried sick about their animals.

Our Bengal cat suddenly had blood coming from his nose, and our regular vet recommended this emergency clinic because they could not see him that day. The team reviewed photos by text, gave us an initial assessment over the phone, and got him in the same day. It turned out to be a small laceration, which they treated with closure glue. Everyone was kind, thorough, and reassuring, and they even called the next day to check on him. We were very grateful for the excellent care and follow-up. I would absolutely recommend this vet for anyone seeking emergency services.

Our GSD Zena lost her appetite for a few days. She was doing semi ok on plain chicken and rice but wasn’t improving much. We took her on a short evening walk, which she usually loves, but she was just acting off. Her breathing became progressively worse, she threw up, and was not very responsive to us calling her name. That’s when we researched the closest animal hospital open so late at night and found VCA Civano. Although Zena’s diagnosis was sudden and fatal (right atrial rupture with pericardial effusion likely due to hemangiosarcoma), I thank God we ended up here. All of the staff were so compassionate and helpful, especially Dr. Boyle who cared for Zena. She really took time answering our many questions and comforted us as we said our final goodbye to our girl. Not once did I feel that they were doing excessive tests or procedures to get more money out of us (as I have felt at other clinics before). It was the complete opposite here. They wanted to make sure they were only doing what was necessary, especially given the bad shape Zena was in. The following morning I had changed my mind about cremating Zena, so I contacted the clinic. The cremation service had already picked her up earlier that morning. With the help of the staff & wonderful cremation service they use, we were able to get her back ❤️. The staff never once made me feel like an inconvenience. They did absolutely everything they could to make sure our wishes for her remains were fulfilled. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone at VCA Civano!

I don’t like to make Recommendations where to go based off of one poor experience however my advice would be to drive to the other one. We came in tonight with my dog who appeared to have a rattlesnake bite without even given us options, They told us we needed $1000 down and could be 6 to 7k. The unknowledgeable and out of place vet techs at the counter said it’s definitely a snake bite which is very bold knowing that they’re not a veterinarian. They gave us some advice that I feel like just could’ve been kept to themselves. It caused more worry, especially since they weren’t giving us any treatment options other than $1000 deposit and 6 to 7 grand. Went over to the valley VCA and was given an option to just determine if it was a rattlesnake bite. Turns out it’s more than likely was not. Even if it was, they had given us a wide variety of treatment options and prepared us for appropriately. The staff at the counter did not seem to try to diagnose my dog, and everyone seemed very loving and understanding of the situation and sympathetic for what we were going through. Not once did they throw out a number as large as the other one which is just intimidating and scary. We could have saved a whole drive from one place to the other place we were already planning putting our dog down. Absolutely uncalled for. We need to do better for our animals and our pet owners who are just trying to do the right thing within the means of affordability. Give comfort not out of place and rank advice.

Had to take our puppy in because she got stung or bit by something. They were very compassionate with her and us. Luckily it was just a sting. They even called the next day to see how she was doing. We live in Whetsone and had to drive up at 10:30 at night. So happy they could see her and were open.
