VCA Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort

These people care absolutely nothing about animals and everything about profit. I currently have a medical emergency with my chihuahua. She needs surgery and I am working with an amazing nonprofit that will do her surgery at an incredibly discounted price.... All I needed was a diagnosis from a vet , and you have that diagnosis emailed to the nonprofit. No blood work or anything of that sort.Simply an exam to confirm that she has pyometra. I've called about fifteen different clinics in san antonio and been given price ranges from between $140-200 for a diagnosis. I called Becker to price compare. The quoted me a MINIMUM of $500. I asked why so much and they said because they need to email the diagnosis to the non profit. I was astonished that their price was $300 higher than 15 other clinics...all because I need an email. The fact is , they saw that they weren't going to get a profit off of me because I would be doing the surgery with the nonprofit organization so they tried to make their profit elsewhere. The lack of empathy, professional ethics and compassion are absolutely astounding. Needless to say I will not be taking my dog there and wanted to write a review as a warning to other pet parents about their price gouging tactics.

ZERO STARS! The worst veterinary place in the world. The male receptionist shows no respect nor good manners. Always yells and hangs people up. Doesn't deserve to work anywhere. Why do managers hire the most rude men in the world to answer the phone? Might as well connect an AI answering machine that will provide polite and informative service. There is no no professionalism in that place, no consideration for people who wait in there so long and apparently they overcharge everyone to satisfy themselves. I will never go to that place and I hope no one ever does!

We called about our 8 year old cat who was very sick, near critical, and with urgency they recommended we bring her in right away. It was very early on a Saturday but thank god for the 24/7 service! We felt safe and well taken care of for the entire process, and with excellently provided instructions for after our visit, our precious little one has been able to make a full recovery. A huge thank you to all the amazing people at VCA!

Giving only 3 stars due to the fact they no longer all over the phone prescription certification for online ordering with Chewy. I have used this vet for years and suddenly they want their patients to only be able to use their online ordering which is much more costly than chewy. The staff are all nice and caring but this policy that VCA suddenly has is terrible. I can get a paper prescription and mail it into chewy, but that is very inconvenient for me. Due to this fact, I will take my animals to a vet that allows phone verifications from any website I choose to get my pets preventative medication from. With the over population of stray and sickly animals in this city, one would think VCA would make it convenient to access preventative medications.

Submitted a stool sample for my cat and they told me it would only take about 3-4 days for a result. Took longer than they said so I called and asked if the results were ready. They said the results were in and needed a doctor to look at them. Doctor gave results within 10 minutes that my cat has parasites. They had the results for days and couldn't be bothered to get someone to look at them until I called. My cat could've been getting care days ago. If you need quick results DO NOT waste your time or money here.
