My dog has been under active care at this clinic for a GI condition. Part of that documented history: he refuses kibble. I told the staff this directly before they sold me a bag of prescription dry food AND a case of cans. Nobody said a word about the food being non-returnable. Not at purchase, not at my next visit. Predictably, he wouldn't eat it. When I tried to bring back the unopened bag and unopened cans, I was told flatly: no returns, no credit, nothing. That was the first time their return policy was ever mentioned to me. I understand clinics can't restock food. What I don't accept is selling a client a product you have documented reason to believe will fail, staying silent about the no-return policy, and then leaving the client holding the entire cost. That's not medicine, that's retail with none of retail's accountability. If you're prescribed food here: ask about the return policy BEFORE you pay, because they won't volunteer it. Better yet, ask for a written prescription and buy it somewhere with a return policy! Chewy and Petco both sell the same veterinary diets and take returns.
