I feel ripped off. I just took my chihuahua in to get a heartworm test and they charged me $97.20. And that is with their ridiculous "Pet Pass Membership." I went in there in February hoping to have a place closer to my house than Banfield (where I have been going for years). The young vet that I saw is quite nice. However, their prices are high. They sold me this stupid "Pet Pass Membership" where I pay $20 a month so that supposedly exams are covered-- that is $240 a year. Then I go just to get the heartworm test and it is 67.50 plus 16.20 to draw the blood (???) plus 13.50 for the lab tech. Give me a break. It cost $44.55 last time at Banfield. I have NEVER been charged separately for the blood draw, in 25 years of having dogs. Google says the typical price for a heartworm test is $35 to $75. I have never paid close to $75. One might think when I pay Sahuaro Vista 20 bucks a month already, they would not have charged me for the lab tech, at least. This kind of thing is the reason that people can't afford pets anymore, and why the animal shelters are full. (Not from me-- I can pay, and I'm paying, I'm still paying a monthly fee to Banfield for my senior dog that passed away.) The point is that most people cannot afford pets anymore-- certainly not more than one-- and it is sad. Dumb move on their part-- because they overcharge, they lost a customer. I will go back to Banfield. I don't mind paying to take care of my pets but I will not be overcharged.
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!
LOOKING TO SUE!
TL;DR: My sister’s dog was fasted twice for two scheduled surgeries, and neither surgery happened. One was canceled only after arrival; the second was never performed, with no proactive update all day. The clinic still charged her about $185 and did not return her dog until payment was completed. After two missed workdays, repeated poor communication, and unnecessary stress for both my sister and Clifford, I deeply regret recommending this practice and would not trust them with another pet.
I recommended this clinic to my sister based on our family’s previous positive experience, and after seeing how she and her dog, Clifford, were treated, I deeply regret that recommendation.
Her first appointment was supposed to be an illness check and an opportunity to establish care. Instead, the veterinarian did not introduce himself, ask her name, or make any meaningful effort to understand her concerns. The appointment immediately became focused on scheduling Clifford’s neuter, even after my sister explained that she wanted to establish trust and ensure he received appropriate routine care first.
The first surgery was scheduled for a Monday. Clifford fasted overnight, my sister took time off work, and our father brought him to the clinic around 7:30 a.m. After waiting approximately 30 minutes in a crowded lobby, they were told the procedure had been canceled because of a staffing issue. No one contacted my family beforehand, even though they had apparently known there was a problem. Clifford had fasted unnecessarily, and both my sister and father lost time because of the clinic’s failure to communicate.
The surgery was rescheduled for a month later. Clifford again fasted overnight and was dropped off around 7:00 a.m. Our father specifically asked to be contacted if anything changed. The drop-off was rushed, and there was little opportunity to ask questions or receive clear information.
No one called or provided an update all day.
Around 3:00 p.m., my sister called the clinic herself. Only then was she told that Clifford’s surgery had never been performed because they “couldn’t get to him.” Apparently, earlier procedures had taken longer than expected. Delays happen, but there is no reasonable excuse for allowing a dog to remain at the clinic fasting all day without notifying his owner once it became clear the surgery would not occur.
Despite failing to perform the scheduled neuter, the clinic completed bloodwork and an examination and charged my sister approximately $185. These services had been discussed as part of the surgical visit, with parts of the examination expected to occur while Clifford was already under anesthesia. The clinic did not clearly communicate that it intended to proceed with these services even though the surgery was not happening.
When my sister arrived, Clifford was not immediately returned to her. She was brought into an exam room for an explanation and then expected to complete payment before being reunited with him. A malfunctioning card reader delayed the process further. Under the circumstances, she understandably felt that collecting payment was being prioritized over returning her dog.
This was not one unavoidable cancellation. It was two failed surgery appointments, two days of unnecessary fasting, two missed workdays, our father’s lost time, approximately $185 in charges, and repeated failures to communicate.
My sister declined the clinic’s offer to try again the following day and found another surgical center that immediately provided clear expectations, realistic scheduling information, a prompt appointment, and a substantially lower quote.
After witnessing the stress this caused my sister and Clifford, I cannot recommend this practice. Their scheduling, communication, transparency, and respect for both my sister’s time and Clifford’s welfare need serious improvement.
A one star is even too much grace for this place....
I chose this clinic based on a family recommendation, but unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing.
During my first visit, there was very little effort to establish a relationship or discuss my concerns. The appointment immediately became focused on scheduling my dog's neuter. (I should've taken this as a sign)
My dog's first surgery appointment was canceled after we had already arrived because of staffing issues. No one called ahead, despite us taking time off work and preparing my dog by fasting him overnight.
We rescheduled a month later (With a different surgeon, not by preference) Again, my dog fasted overnight and was dropped off early in the morning. We received no updates throughout the day despite asking to be notified if anything changed.
Around pickup time, I CALLED THEM and was told they never performed the surgery because they "couldn't get to him." However, they still performed bloodwork and an exam and charged me approximately $185 even though the procedure we had planned never happened.
What frustrated me most was the lack of communication. Had someone called earlier in the day, I could have picked up my dog sooner instead of having him sit at the clinic fasting all day.
Between two canceled surgery days, missed work, and poor communication, I lost confidence in the practice and sought care elsewhere. I hope the clinic improves its scheduling, communication, and respect for clients' (INCLUDING MY DOG) time.

Our two little dogs get the very best care here. Dr. Leiber is compassionate and very knowledgeable. She diagnosed a heart murmer and helped us get our girl as healthy as possible. Highly recommend!!! Prices are reasonable and everyone working there is very friendly.
