Yelp
I will never forget August 2023 when SAGE took my baby away. PLEASE BE CAREFUL going here not only will they just put your dog to sleep and not fully care for them but they will charge your card without authorization. DR. SIERRA EDELSON IS the worst vet. Be CAREFUL!!

Yelp
Our primary vet advised us to take our 14-year-old cat to a cardiologist after noting a grade 2 heart murmur and elevated ProBNP, and after some research online experience we decided to take her to see Dr. Woodruff at the cardiology department at SAGE veterinary SF. Our experience was fantastic from beginning to end:
- Scheduling: I called on Sunday to request an appointment with Dr. Woodruff, and they scheduled me for Tuesday! I was pleasantly surprised to get an appointment so quickly.
- Costs: While they couldn't give me an exact cost over the phone since they didn't know exactly what kind of tests my cat would need yet, they gave me a ballpark that ended up being representative of the final bill, and seemed reasonable based on my understanding of similar services in the area. We paid about $1250 for the consultation and a level 3 echocardiogram.
- Parking: They offer free valet services which is nice because parking on the streets can be pretty hard. We did end up street parking ourselves because we got there early, which was also free and we only walked about two blocks.
- Facilities: The building was clean and modern, with comfortable seating. It wasn't too crowded.
- Staff: Everybody was very kind, including the greeter at the door, the front desk staff downstairs who told us where to find cardiology, and the front desk staff at the cardiology department. We waited maybe 5-10 minutes after checking in to be called into a room. The nurse/assistant who let us into the room, asked us about our concerns, and walked us through the process was incredibly friendly and gentle with our cat. And of course, Dr. Woodruff absolutely lived up to her reputation. She was friendly and patient and answered all of our questions without rushing us out. She was very knowledgeable but able to explain things in a way that was clear for us. She gave us a clear recommendation and immediately sent the records, including links to the detailed results of the echocardiogram, to both us and our primary vet.
Overall I am VERY happy with the service we received here, and while I hope we won't be frequent customers, I would absolutely return if necessary, and recommend the cardiology department (and especially Dr. Woodruff) to anyone who is looking for a veterinary cardiologist in the bay area.

Did I need snacks and drinks from the niffty snack cart? YES! Six hours later…On one hand, my pet injury was triage last which was good because it wasn’t that bad. I could’ve been there a lot longer and spent a lot more money. Please keep in mind that this location is in the heart of the Mission and the only emergency hospital in the Mission. The volume in , out and waiting is large! At least on a Saturday afternoon/night. I suppose like any Pet Emergency hospital they’re going to rely our lack of knowledge to get as much money out of us as possible. Very empathetic staff, but it is hard to get information about where you’re at in the queue. I plan on doing a bit more research of SF Hospitals before my next emergency visit.
Our dog exhibited signs of needing to vomit but was unable to. Subsequently, I observed an increase in his abdominal size and promptly took him to the SAGE Center in San Francisco. Diana, the receptionist, checked us in with exceptional kindness and compassion. There was no waiting time, and they promptly admitted him. The medical team conducted X-rays, revealing a life-threatening condition known as GDV. The nurse provided a comprehensive explanation and candidly disclosed the substantial cost of the surgery. Despite the financial burden, we were determined to save our beloved Brownie's life. They prepared him for surgery and informed us that we would receive regular updates throughout the procedure. Approximately 9 pm, Dr. Anya Morrissey contacted us to inform us that surgery would commence shortly and that Brownie was receiving exceptional care. She assured us that she would contact us again once the surgery was complete, which could take 2-3 hours. Indeed, she called just before midnight to update us that the surgery had been a resounding success and that Brownie had endured the procedure well. She reassured us that he was in capable hands and would provide further updates in the morning. Dr. Morrissey called us again around 10 am to provide an additional update and inform us that Brownie could be discharged if all signs remained positive throughout the day, which they did. Consequently, he was scheduled to be discharged at 4 pm. During this time, I visited him to feed him wet food, which he eagerly consumed. Diana, the front desk receptionist, recognized me immediately and promptly notified the nurse. We visited with him and departed. At 4 pm, we returned to collect him, and Ryan, the front desk receptionist, assisted us this time. He demonstrated exceptional kindness, professionalism, and understanding regarding our request to split the bill, which we were able to afford. He kept us informed throughout the process and subsequently escorted us to the discharge instructions area. I regret not recalling the names of the discharging nurse and the nurse who assisted me when I brought food for him. Both were remarkable individuals. Subsequently, Dr. Morrissey arrived with Brownie, and I was overcome with emotion and asked her if I could offer her a hug. She graciously accepted my request. I expressed my profound gratitude for her life-saving intervention and was deeply moved by her compassion. Dr. Morrissey embodies the qualities of a caring and compassionate medical professional. She provided comprehensive guidance on the upcoming events and assisted us with Bronwie outside. We sincerely hope that the staff will take the time to read this post and comprehend the immense stress we endured over the past two days, as well as the pivotal role they played in alleviating our concerns. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering support.
Sincerely,
Basil & Mo

Yelp
We brought our dog in for emergency care. The valet parking was a definite plus as we were able to place our dog on the provided gurney for a quick entry. The front desk was very attentive and caring. Two attendants immediately came out to take our dog in the back. The technicians were polite and friendly. The doctor listened to our needs, addressed our concerns without any hesitation, pushback or upselling. Our dog received the necessary proper care and we happily took our sweet dog home. Thank you Sage staff for a calm and pleasant experience.
