Presidio Way Pet Hospital

10/10 would recommend this vet hospital. My cat had a sudden lump appear on her jaw & Presidio Way was able to get her in as a new patient within the day of me calling to inquire about an appointment. The last SF vet I went to did not listen to my requests regarding how to handle my cat (she is a bit fiesty, but does much better at the vet with slow movements and a Churu for distraction). Presidio Way was so accommodating and kind to my girl. They quickly got results back on her lump & after it progressed, were able to get us in right when they opened up this week. My cat is my best friend and I was so nervous about bringing her in for her procedure. With the vet's warmth and reassurance, I felt completely comfortable leaving her in their care. I think this spot will be my new vet, based on this experience alone.

After my dog’s regular vet was unable to accommodate an emergency at noon on a Wednesday, the team at Presidio Way Veterinary Hospital without hesitation took us in right away. Dr. Chatoian was wonderful—kind, attentive, and efficient throughout the entire visit. We were in and out within an hour, and I’m so grateful for the care and urgency they showed during a stressful situation. Highly recommend this office for anyone needing compassionate and responsive veterinary care.

I cannot say enough good things about Presidio Way Vet. They have been nothing but helpful, kind, compassionate, and patient through a very difficult time with our sweet “Puffy”. We tried all we could to prolong her life and Presidio Vet was honest and helpful. It came to a point where our sweet kitty was at the end of her life and we had to make a very difficult decision. Dr. Helmer was incredible. We not wanted anyone better to be there. She was patient, professional, and kind both to us and to our sweet kitty. What was a heart wrenching experience became one that was easier with Dr. Helmer and her team by our side. I would highly recommend this veterinary office for anyone needing services in the San Francisco area.

I’ve been coming to Presidio Way Veterinary Hospital since I was a kid — our family dogs, King Charles and Lass, both came here, and many of our relatives have trusted their pets to this clinic over the years. It’s always felt like a place where we’re genuinely cared for. I especially want to mention Dr. Helmer, who is truly the best vet ever. She is so kind, patient, and deeply knowledgeable — the type of veterinarian who treats both pets and owners with genuine compassion. Every time I see her, I feel completely at ease knowing my dog is in excellent hands. That said, I did want to share one difficult experience I had recently, which really shook me up. A few weeks ago, I had an appointment with a different vet who told me that my one-year-old puppy might have a heart murmur. Having recently lost a dog in March to a tragic accident, this was extremely hard to hear. The way the information was delivered made it sound very serious, only for the doctor to later say he wasn’t sure — and even mention that he’d been at a monster truck event the night before and that his hearing “might be off.” It was an incredibly confusing and emotional experience. I later followed up with my regular vet, who confirmed that my puppy’s heart is completely healthy — no murmur at all. While I understand that everyone can make mistakes, the manner in which the information was communicated lacked sensitivity and bedside manner, especially given how emotional pet health can be for owners. Despite this, I still deeply value Presidio Way and will continue bringing my dog here because of the trust I have in Dr. Helmer and the rest of the team. I just hope this serves as gentle feedback for future situations — compassion and clear communication make all the difference, especially in moments when owners are scared and vulnerable.

Been happily coming here for years! On my first visit, Dr. Helmer quickly diagnosed my cat’s health issue that had puzzled other vets. She also noticed some dental issues that other vets never did. My cat clearly felt better after receiving proper care. I’m grateful for her and the wonderful staff here.
