Finally, West Hollywood has an incredibly talented, kind, well-priced, INDEPENDENTLY-OWNED vet - Dr. Ameis! I can't say enough good things about how amazing our experience was throughout my dog's recent spay at Paw Priority. I was given a same-day appointment to meet Dr. Ameis when considering changing vets (I asked for a check-up appointment for him to meet my dog), and immediately connected with his professional, yet warm energy. He spent unhurried time with me to answer all my substantive questions about the spay, life-long care, types of vaccinations and schedules, and to chat personally to get to know me and my dog. I couldn't believe it when he mentioned he uses the Thimerosal-free rabies vaccine. I had previously called every vet in the area and asked my previous vet if they had it or could obtain it. I offered to pay the difference for them to obtain it. (They claimed they couldn't.) I eventually had to drive outside of L.A. to ensure my dog's first rabies vaccine would be thimerosal-free. Thimerosal is a preservative additive used in multi-dose vials containing mercury that animals shouldn't have. It's used because it's cheaper so that multiple vaccines can be given from one vial. The fact that Dr. Ameis only uses the single dose thimerosal-free rabies vaccine and eats the higher cost because "the little things add up in a pet's health" was the final sign for me that this was my kind of vet. The Paw Priority facilities are beautiful and spotless. The environment is calming. Practice manager Dannielle is wonderful: she runs a tight ship and is extremely personable. I felt so comforted that she was also the Vet Tech assisting on my dog's spay. The entire staff is polite, kind, and you just feel well taken care of. I don't write many reviews - only when a business is truly exceptional. This one is. Corporations have unfortunately infiltrated the veterinary business and sky-rocketed costs. VCA quoted me a range of between $725-$1,100 more than the total price I paid at PP, and told me I would have to wait over a month for an appointment. I had also encountered many issues getting appointments during my previous dog's 12 year lifetime of care at VCA in addition to the astronomical prices. The vets may be great there, but the corporate polices, pricing, and inability to get a timely appointment have become absurd and unsustainable. Owning a pet shouldn't have to be a luxury. Luckily, we have a new, independently owned vet in West Hollywood that offers top-notch care and transparent pricing (pricing is listed on the website.) We're so fortunate to have them in the neighborhood. We made the switch and feel great about it. Do yourself and your pet a favor and go meet Dr. Ameis!

Dr. Richmond at Veterinary Skin and Ear quite literally saved our dog Oliver's life. Oliver was diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus (PF), a serious autoimmune skin disease, and we were terrified. From our very first visit, Dr. Richmond gave us hope and a clear plan. The level of care and attention he and his team provide is like nothing we've ever experienced. He took the time to explain Oliver's condition in a way we could actually understand, answered every one of our questions, and made us feel like Oliver mattered just as much to him as he does to us. The follow-through has been incredible - we never felt rushed or like just another appointment. Thanks to Dr. Richmond's expertise and genuine compassion, Oliver is thriving today. If your pet is dealing with a skin or ear issue, especially something complex, we can't recommend him highly enough. We're endlessly grateful.
I recently had to bring both of my 10-year-old cats to the veterinarian—one for a minor tissue injury after a fall from a balcony and the other for a pea-sized lump under his armpit. Since I do not have a regular family vet, I called several local clinics, but they were either fully booked or did not seem very transparent about their services and pricing. The veterinarian was friendly, honest, and focused on my cats' needs without recommending unnecessary exams or procedures. The entire experience felt trustworthy and professional.
