As a first time dog mom Dr DeVore took such good care of my sweet senior angel. Her staff was excellent from the moment we walked in to when we picked Bru up and everything in between. I appreciated the intraop updates and clear discharge instructions between Brianna and Jessica. I am beyod grateful and impressed with the staff. They took care of ny baby and helped ease my anxiety as well

When I first got my puppy a year and a half ago, Modern Animal was an absolute dream. Everyone was so kind and attentive and knowledgeable, and really sat and patiently listened to all of my new pet parent anxieties. I’m not sure what’s happened, but in the last six months, not only is it nearly impossible to get an appointment, but all of the more senior vets seem to have had their hours cut back to the point that they’re only available a couple of times a month. The vets that are there are typically junior or associate and twice now (very kind) lab techs have literally told me that they’re brand new, which is why there were errors in billing or their recall about what had just been discussed with the doctor. This month I had a really concerning episode where my dog could not stop throwing up and having loose stool and accidents indoors. We went to MA for a stool sample to rule out a parasite, and then seemed to be able to get it under control for a week or so with a really neutral diet and then his symptoms came back rather suddenly. After a new appointment this past Friday and $1500 of bloodwork, hydration, and x-rays, I was sent home with a shrug and a “it’s probably a chicken allergy. It’s often a chicken allergy.” and a prescription for new food, along with a sidenote that even though I’ve paid for rush labs in house, they were unable to get an accurate reading on his blood platelet count and would have to send it out of house after all to get a second opinion (at my expense). They were so shortstaffed that after my pup was hydrated, I asked to clarify the odd chicken diagnosis with the vet, I waited for 20 minutes and ultimately asked if they could just call me when she became available, because I could tell how busy things were. She did and repeated the same, so I bought new food and headed home with a still-sick pup. Last night, he started exhibiting extreme fatigue and seemed to lose the ability to use his back legs. As we speak, I’m en route to get another opinion. But I am so scared and I’ve just been so blown away by this whole experience.

The vets are great but OMG the prices insane!!!! $800+ per visit. Anything for my baby but this is ridiculous!

I love the Santa Monica team! Dr. Wagner is incredible. She worked with me with my last dog who had IVDD; and is now helping me with a new shelter adopted dog. Knowing how quickly an issue can arise--the top tier membership is a great option. Transparent pricing for procedures and/or medications without any pressure.
