Modern Animal Russian Hill

Wish I could write a review for the actual doctors here, but unfortunately our first visit didn't get to happen. I blocked off work to come on a weekday, walked to the clinic and it wasn't until I arrived that they told me the doctor wouldn't be in and they didn't have any other vets available to see us. No heads up. No apology when we got there. Just seemed really unprofessional. It's a shame, we were looking forward to trying them out.

Dr. Marie Charlotte Popp is not only an incredible vet but one of the most genuine kind and honest humans I've ever met in my life. My experience with Modern Animal has been nothing but transparent, happy and wonderful. My kitten Nova acquired FIP in 2025 and sadly passed and then a year later my cat Luna had to be euthanized due to mouth cancer. As difficult and imperative as saying goodbye was, Dr. Marie Charlotte Popp was not only so knowledgeable and informative but so comforting during the entire process. I will truly never forget my experience because she made me feel so comforted and cared for during such a difficult time. I'm grateful to have crossed paths with her at Modern Animal Russian Hill and would recommend any fur baby parent to chose her as your pets lifelong veterinarian

My 14 year old Korean teacup Maltese was diagnosed with glaucoma and Dr. Tice, Katie and Christina were all so kind and professional. Modern Animal executed seamlessly in booking, treatment, details, and transparent cost. Aesthetically pleasing and tidy. Beyond being so gentle mannered, Dr. Tice is exceptionally knowledgeable. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions without ever making me feel rushed, and gave me complete confidence in my dog's care plan. You can tell they truly love what they do and genuinely care about the animals (and owners!) who walk through the door. Their annual membership allows unlimited visits (useful for aging pets) and a plus for us parents who don’t like surprises!

I took my cat here to establish care and get a check up. They noticed he had enlarged lymph nodes and recommended further testing which I agreed to. I had to return for a second visit for further testing due to my pets anxiety, I was at this clinic twice in one week. When the results came back there was no notification or phone call. In the summary online of his lab work there was no mention of swollen lymph nodes in relation to lab work and only a recommendation for another check up in the future. Basically I feel left high and dry about something concerning they brought up during his visit. There was also an error in his chart that he urinates frequently which I did not mention nor did the vet mention. I also did not receive supplement recommendations which I asked for at both visits. Overall I felt like many things slipped through the cracks and communication between providers could have been more thorough. The staff is very kind though and the facility is very clean.

The doctor's here are awesome. Incredible rapport with the animals. They are truly attentive, kind and gentle. The prices are reasonable and the office is beautiful and calming. I recommend this vet 100%.
