Edit again: adding screenshots of the emails I sent with dates and the email addresses they were sent to, both ignored until a phone call today, Aug 5, after I posted this review. The response that my emails were not sent to the correct email address is another cop out and even further reduces my confidence in this place. The canned response they send to reviews is pretty sad given that two emails have gone completely ignored. They have had two weeks to respond to the following and just as when I was there, my experience clearly is irrelevant to them. My dog Modoc had an appointment with your neurologist for this past Wednesday for a consult and probably MRI for suspected disc injury. When he started going downhill Sunday, I immediately called ahead and started making the 3 hour drive to IndyVet. By the time I got there, he was shaking uncontrollably, was painful to touch, and was grinding his teeth and clenching his jaw from neck pain. I carried him in and held my 50 pound dog in my arms in the lobby because his neck was hurting him. I was sitting waiting for a tech to come up and check him out, and a healthy happy stray dog came in for a microchip check. That woman was also told to sit. When the tech came up a few minutes later, the receptionist pointed out my dog to her and what he was for, and then pointed to the microchip dog. And then walked right past my visibly painful dog to chip check that dog, spent time giggling and laughing with the person handling the dog, and then chatting up the receptionist. When she finally came over to see Most, she asked if she could put him on leash, and I was so angry I could barely speak, and I hate myself for not advocating more for him, but I didn't stop her and assumed given I said his neck and spine were painful that she would be gentle with him. The receptionist was then on hold forever with the chip company so I was waiting ages to sign the paper for Most to get his pain meds approved, something that would have taken two seconds. At this point I had already decided I was going elsewhere so I went into the front door area to start calling other clinics. That's when I glanced over and saw the tech dragging Most up and down the hall on a slip leash. I immediately rushed over and she put us in a room and I told her I would be going elsewhere, and she left. Somebody else came in while I was on the phone with the other clinic. I mentioned to the other clinic that I wasn't sure if his neck was worse now since he had been drug around instead of being put on a gurney. There was a perfectly good one right there in the hall. She listened to the whole conversation and still did not offer me an ounce of help to get him out of the building. I paid for the exam and pain meds and proceeded to carry him out, where another client had to hold a door open for me since none of the staff would move to assist me and I was about to have to put him on the ground to get the door open. He couldn't even get himself into a sitting position at that point, which the tech saw clearly in the room with us. Imagine my surprise when in the parking lot I see staff helping somebody else with their dog, while they knew Most was hurting and painful and I had to put him on the ground to get the car door open. Thankfully at the other clinic (10/10 excellent care by VCA Fishers) they took him way more seriously, were very careful with his spine, used a gurney to help me get him into the clinic, and actually triaged him appropriately. I'm not asking my dog to take priority over a seizing dog or a bloat or any number of things. But to choose to chip check a dog over a dog who is violently shaking is just so wrong. I'm a former vet tech myself and I'd have been at minimum been given a serious meeting for that if not written up. It goes against every triage protocol that exists.
