My fur baby was an established patient here and they were well aware of how she is and were always willing to work with her. Unfortunately the last experience that I had with them, changed my mind. My baby began experiencing concerning symptoms over the weekend of 7/18 and 7/19. Since they were her established vet, they had her history and knew how her behavior was, I called first thing when they opened at 9am on 7/20. When I finally got through a young woman answered and I let her know that my dog is seen there and I was concerned about her. I inquired when their soonest availability was and without even asking her symptoms, I was told their next availability was Friday. I said okay, thank you and the woman hung up without a goodbye or nothing. Fortunately I was able to get her into Mission Veterinary Clinic that same day and they moved up her appointment after learning her symptoms because they were concerned about her. Ultimately we were referred to Roadrunner Veterinary Services as a critical care overnight stay. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to my baby on July 23. I liked Good Shepherd up until that moment. I received more compassion and support from two different vets that I have never been to than from an established vet I had been going to for years. Dr. Skains is a great vet but the front desk staff needs more training.
