Best vet we have been to with our senior girl. We've had past experiences with vets that left a bad taste in our mouth, but Alondra (I hope I spelled that right) was fantastic- so kind and welcoming. She took extra time and care with our pup which made all the difference in her visit. Thank you Alondra :)!!

The staff is friendly and nice but their prices are outrageous and make it very difficult to fill prescriptions. I just paid $516 for your standard annual check up and shots (excluding medication ). My dog doesn't even have any medical conditions, just a standard checkup. Furthermore, you have to physically mail in the prescription because they don't want any competition from online pharmacies.

The staff and doctors went out of their way to help me and my dog Ruckus with an "urgent" issue, but one that was not a life-threatening emergency. They could have easily given us a later appointment, but they found a way to get us in the same day. I am very grateful. The staff is always helpful and concerned.

Brookland District Vet has the most kind and professional people ever, period. They were very considerate when my previous cat was diagnosed with cancer and treated his passing with the utmost respect. My current cat has received amazing care as well (despite being a little spicy). I highly recommend them to anyone in the DMV area!

I've been bringing my dogs here for years, and I've always appreciated the level of care. That's why it's disappointing to see some recent changes that feel less focused on clients and more on business decisions. Since the practice was sold, one change in particular has made things unnecessarily difficult: prescriptions for outside pharmacies can no longer be sent electronically. I confirmed with my pharmacist at Chewy that they are willing and able to receive electronic prescriptions, but District Vet will not send them. Instead, clients now have to request a written prescription and then coordinate getting it to the pharmacy themselves. In a time when digital prescribing is standard--and when people are already dealing with rising costs and busy schedules--this extra step feels avoidable and inconvenient. It's hard not to feel like this policy discourages clients from using more affordable or preferred outside pharmacy options. I understand that change is part of any business, but it's disappointing when those changes make things harder for long-time clients. I hope the practice reconsiders policies like this and continues to prioritize the convenience and trust of the pet owners who have supported them for years.
