We absolutely love Dr. Fish and the whole staff. Very knowledgeable, communicative, respectful, and helpful! Excited to recently move over to this team as our household go-to. Pricing has been extremely reasonable as well. Highly recommend!
We unfortunately had to let our sweet boy, Simon, go. Dr. Fish and the rest of the staff were compassionate and kind. It was a very difficult day with having to go back and forth dealing with his emergency issues. Once we realized we were going to have to let him go, Dr Fish and her staff made the process as beareable as possible. They sent us a very beautiful heartfelt card with notes from the staff, along with a paw print to further remember him. We really appreciate how caring they were through this difficult time.
I discovered CityVet online when I was in the parking lot of another emergency vet I found closed. It was a weekend, I had an elderly dog with me that had been attacked, and needed immediate care. I was so relieved when I called and was told to come and they would be ready for us. When we arrived there were several people in the waiting room and I was prepared to settle in for a wait when (the amazing) Fallon came out for my dog right away. I couldn't have been more surprised when less than 30 minutes later I was told Dr Fish had finished and we were ready to go. When I met Fallon at the register and was told how much I owed (including 2 prescriptions) I couldn't believe it. The cost was literally a quarter of what I was expecting. I can't say enough good things about my experience with CityVet. Owning 6 dogs it's a pretty sure bet I'll need an emergency vet again. Gives me comfort knowing the best place to go is so close.
My pup had a mass she had to get removed, and staff was super friendly to her. They gave her treats and lots of love! The doctor gave me a couple different options and gave me the price estimates before I chose what route to proceed. She had her operation yesterday and is back to normal today! I’ve come in various times for different emergencies, and they’ve always been able to squeeze her in. I’ve been going for over a year and have never had a bad experience!
PLEASE read this review fully, and then take the time to read other reviews as well, especially the ones mentioning communication issues, dismissive behavior, and feeling unheard. After reading through them myself, I realized my experience may not have been as isolated as I was initially made to feel.
As a Black woman, this entire experience left me feeling dismissed, talked over, and treated with far less patience and empathy than I deserved as a paying customer simply trying to advocate for my dog.
I honestly should have stopped dealing with this clinic after my very first interaction with them.
The first issue I had was with Fallon over the phone while trying to explain what was going on with my dog Marley. I felt cut off and dismissed while simply trying to explain my concerns. I ended up speaking with Dr. Fisher afterward and thought maybe things would improve from there. They did not.
I brought Marley in for an ear issue and spent around $400. Diagnostics were apparently “declined,” yet nobody properly explained to me that the treatment being given might only temporarily relieve symptoms instead of solving the actual issue. If that had been clearly communicated, I would have made different decisions regarding my dog’s care.
What also bothered me was them plucking my dog’s ears without properly preparing me for what was about to happen. Marley was screaming during the procedure, and nobody warned me beforehand about the level of pain or distress she might experience. Watching that happen to your dog is traumatic, especially when you feel completely unprepared for it.
Less than two weeks after finishing medication, Marley’s symptoms came right back. So naturally I was frustrated wondering what exactly I spent $400 for.
Before today’s appointment, I spoke with Karen and was under the impression the recheck exam would not involve another exam fee. When I arrived today, I simply asked if the examination was going to be free. Before I could even finish speaking, Dr. Fisher immediately cut me off in a nasty and defensive tone talking about how diagnostics had been declined. I literally had to tell her, “I wasn’t finished speaking.”
That interaction completely rubbed me the wrong way because from the moment I walked in, there was zero empathy, zero patience, and zero genuine attempt to hear me out as a concerned pet owner. Instead, I immediately felt met with defensiveness and attitude.
Then Melanie made the comment that they “never have issues like this except with you,” which honestly felt incredibly dismissive considering the concerns I was expressing. Ironically, after reading other reviews afterward, I found multiple people expressing similar concerns involving communication and professionalism.
Yes, my tone may have become sharp at times because I was frustrated, emotional about my dog, and upset after repeatedly feeling unheard. But if they are labeling me “abrupt,” they should also reflect on how abrupt and dismissive they were toward me throughout this situation.
At the end of the day, all I wanted was communication, transparency, empathy, and understanding. Instead, I left feeling blamed, dismissed, and deeply uncomfortable with how I was treated.
