Read on GoogleI moved back to Portland and needed to establish care with a new vet for my elderly dog, I read the reviews for Brooklyn Yard and was blown away with how much people loved it. I brought my 15 year old chiweenie in and the experience with the vet was so heartwarming. She fell in love with him instantly. She was so sweet and gentle with my old man. But the thing that really sold me on Brooklyn Yard Vet was that I wasn’t shamed for not getting my dog’s dental problems taken care of yet. It’s a huge expense and I’ve been saving for it. He hasn’t been in pain, but definitely needs the work done. I’ve been shamed by vets before and was waiting for the shaming to come, when the vet was examining his teeth, but it never came. She just confirmed it needed to be done and gave me recommendations for places that would be cheaper than getting it done at their clinic. I’ve been going to them for almost 2 years now, and when I got a cat, I brought him there too. They both get such excellent care and the vets and techs love them both so much.
Read on GoogleI really hate to leave this review, but I think our experience needs to be shared publicly so others don't have to go through this. TL;DR - Our dog was misdiagnosed by one of the doctors at Brooklyn Yard, which led to a cancerous tumor growing for months. It was not responsive to any kind of treatment by the time she was properly diagnosed, and my sweet girl has since passed. I discovered a new lump on my dog in early December, and the doctor did a fine needle aspiration. Instead of sending it to a pathologist, she assumed it was a lipoma given my dog's history and the fact she couldn't see any "cellular activity." This led countless back and forth visits to Brooklyn Yard, and their urgent care, Spruce, along with thousands spent in testing and imaging. For months, they led us in circles, insistent it wasn't cancer, despite my poor girl presenting so many symptoms that I now know are common for mast cell tumors. All it took to properly diagnose my dog was another fine needle aspiration, which a specialist sent to a pathologist. This is what Brooklyn Yard should have done to begin with. By this point, though, her tumor was too large and complex for surgery, and treatments like palladia and chemo were not effective. Also, when Brooklyn Yard first received the updated medical records and diagnosis from our specialist, their team called us, not to apologize or offer support, but to tell me they were canceling my dog's upcoming dental cleaning. They have yet to reach out since her passing last month. I am absolutely devastated and can't help but think how different things could have been if we hadn't put so much trust in the doctors at Brooklyn Yard. I miss my girl so much and will never be able to trust another animal in their care.
i've been with brooklyn yard since 2022 and they're truly the best vet i've ever worked with. whether it's a small check up or a bigger issue, they're ALWAYS happy to take the time to talk situations through with me versus trying to rush things along. the whole staff is so friendly and sweet, they genuinely love my pup and care about his well being and it means so much<3 thank you all for everything you do <3
Read on GoogleBrooklyn Yard is hands down the best vet I have been to. Everyone I deal with is awesome. The doctors are warm and informative. My dog Loki was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. After the first night of watching my dog have multiple seizures Brooklyn Yard got me in and we came up with a treatment plan to help Loki. Their follow up and communication has been amazing. As a pet parent in crisis, their level of care is exactly what we needed. I should also note... I own Rose City Dogs "Small Batch Dog Care", with multiple locations in PDX. We often get newcomers to Portland that have not yet found a vet. I recommend Brooklyn Yard every time. Multiple customers have called to thank me personally and to rave about the service they got at Brooklyn Yard. Top Notch!!!
