When I arrived in the middle of the night needing a C-section, I was immediately greeted and my girl was taken back to be examined.
The Dr. and staff were extremely friendly, made me feel well taken care of. Then, the shoe drop....., when I heard what the cost would be, my first thought was EXTORTION!! How could anyone justify this #
Well, I opted for their alternative option, which was about 30 miles away. My local vet is expensive after hours, however, I couldn`t be seen there. This operation was almost 5 times as much, I couldn`t believe it. If you need medical attention for your pet, and money is no object, I would have no trouble referring you to The Blue Pearl.

A week and a half ago, my German Shorthaired Pointer, Hank, got into some trash, ate some things that weren’t edible and ended up with an obstruction. He was having projectile vomiting, lethargy, and I could tell he was very uncomfortable. I had initially taken him at 12:45AM to the emergency vet in Clarksville, but after having to wait for 2 hours in my vehicle with him, they still weren’t able to see him yet and he seemed to be feeling worse, so I headed to Blue Pearl in Nashville. On arrival around 3:15AM, we were promptly greeted and triaged and he was seen by a doctor quickly. After discussing x-ray results and options with the doctor, I decided to leave him hospitalized there and they would first place a nasogastric tube and try IV fluids and meds to get his gut moving and try to pass the item that was blocking his gut. I hated to leave him, but felt like he was in good hands. Later that day, it was determined he needed surgery because the obstruction wasn’t clearing and he was still not doing well. Following surgery, Hank took a little longer than expected to start perking up, eating & drinking and ended up spending 4 days total in ICU. He had a rough 3 more days when he came home, had a fever and drainage from his incision, cough, was barely eating and somewhat lethargic. I had to take him back to get oral antibiotics to take at home, but he is now back to his playful, loving, energetic self. My spoiled boy means the world to me and I couldn’t be more grateful to his awesome surgeon (Dr. Pawenski) and the rest of the ICU team for saving my buddy. It was VERY expensive, but worth it 🩵 🐾
The entire staff at BluePearl went above and beyond for my sweet Sadie this past week. They fought so hard to get us answers for her and worked relentlessly around the clock to make sure she was well cared for. Their kindness towards us and towards her was just what our family needed. Our girl crossed over the rainbow bridge last night and the only peace I have is knowing how well cared for she was by Doctor Mike Pawenski and the staff at Blue Pearl. A simple thank you just doesn’t seem enough. We will forever be grateful for you making our girl comfortable in her last days on earth.
Had to put my 13 yo Dane mix down a month ago now after she was found in the middle of the night in a pool of her own saliva barely breathing. Wanted to give myself some time before writing a review as there were things that bothered me about the whole process that occurred. The vet, Dr. Valad, was wonderful and she appeared reasonable throughout explaining things and outcomes. My main grievance were the vet techs. They need more training. My dog couldn't move when I got there. She was 92 lbs. They didn't want me to help get her out of the car despite me having a blanket already under her to use as a sling where we could slide her out gently, instead, the two young women started to shove my dog out of the car from her backside, and then eventually dragged her out front feet first completely unsupported. They didn't even have the gurney facing the correct direction, having the handles facing the car, so there was a massive gap between the car and the gurney. I was appalled. When I did make the decision to euthanize and they're having you in their comfort room (which was a white walled non-comforting room, very cold feeling, bare bones) they literally had my dog trying to walk into the room trying to support her with a towel around her waist. She had a belly full of blood! She had a ruptured tumor from what they told me. She wasn't able to move when we got there. Why would you have her try walk to the damn comfort room?! Why not gurney her back in there and then lower her off of the gurney? That's what still infuriates me. I'm still mortified watching my dog try to stumble to me as she's literally dying and wasn't breathing well from significant blood loss. And of course it was a cement floor. They literally threw a blanket in there as I was helping to lower her onto the floor. You'd think they'd have the comfort room prepped before bringing you or the animal in there. Throughout the whole time I was there, one of the same techs kept interrupting to have me sign random papers, or explain that my card was going to have an additional fee and that if I used a debit card that wouldn't happen, etc. Which I guess is helpful in the grand scheme but when you've made the decision to put your dog down and the vet literally just walked out of the room to immediately walk in after her shoving a piece of paper in your face wasn't good. And then to keep interrupting for paperwork as you're on the floor with you're dog as they're dying in front of you it was just so inappropriate. There's a small part of me that thinks it was more stressful and problematic to drive an hour to the vet only to have that be my dogs treatment in her final moments versus letting her pass at home. But had I done that I likely wouldn't have forgiven myself either. The cremation process went quickly and I had her remains within a few days. The urn was nice and they had made a paw print in clay for me, so that was appreciated. RIP Lola. Until we see each other again in the afterlife.
Blue Pearl saved my dog’s life. They talked me through the full process to help him after he ate an exorbitant amount of xylitol that would have caused him to die within hours. Phoenix also was treated but released early after observation of levels to confirm that he didnt have as much if any of the xylitol. All in all BP made wise and caring decisions for my dogs while looking to save me as much money as possible. I am forever grateful to Dr Forster and Dr Ricks for all of their help as well as the loving staff who watched them around the clock!
