Yelp
I wanted to like this veterinarian... I really did. My dog was a patient for roughly 2+ years. The staff was always nice, but truly lacked thorough care. My dog is relatively healthy, but the few times there were issues it felt like the doctors just wanted to slap a bandaid on it rather than figure out exactly what was going on. I ended up having to demand a referral to NVS to get answers to what ended up being relatively simple.
What finally got me was they started requesting anytime I bring my dog in to put her on a sedative ahead of time (trazodone). She's never been aggressive, showed signs of anxiousness or fear. I was chatting with a close friend who said they also started requesting the same from her dog. They also gave her dog the wrong vaccine & brushed it off like "oops, sorry. she should be fine."
If you need the literal basics, they're fine. But don't be afraid to question their every move. I found myself doubtful of their knowledge and ended up switching clinics permanently.

We have lived here almost 4 years and Drs. Miller and Gansberger have always gone above and beyond for our cats even helping us take care of some of the neighborhood cats. The techs are so nice and friendly and knowledgable and everyone takes the time to explain things. The front desk staff are amazing too and so, so nice! They are just all around great people and have done everything from check ups, dentals, and surgery (even for our spiciest cats). Cannot recommend this place enough.

Berry Hill Animal Hospital is elite! I've been a client for six years with my six (err... seven) cats, plus countless fosters. From reception to technicians to the vets themselves, everyone who works at BHAH is intelligent, caring and skilled. I know that I am receiving the most up-to-date veterinary care by professionals who are the top of their game. Reception staff are efficient and friendly. Their technicians are consistently exceptional: gentle and skilled at handling even the most wiggly cats so that everyone is safe and the cats aren't traumatized. The vets stay informed about new research developments, and they work together to diagnose. You're never getting the opinion of one doctor—you're getting the knowledge and experience of four. Same-day appointments are almost always available. Staff are quick to reply to calls, emails and text messages. When the time came to euthanize one of my kitties who had cancer, we felt supported and cared for every step of the way. I could not have imagined a more loving goodbye—nor did I anticipate how much the staff would help me through it emotionally. Kindness is paramount here. Whether I'm bringing in my handsome eldest son Frittata for his vaccines, a sick momma cat and her day-old kittens, or a random feral tomcat I found in a parking lot, I know that BHAH will give me the information and agency to make the best decisions for the cats in my care. BHAH is locally owned, and it shows in every facet of this exceptional practice. I never want my cats to suffer or experience discomfort, but somehow, going to Berry Hill is always the best part of my day.
Both of my cats have received excellent care from Berry Hill Animal Hospital for over a year. My favorite thing about this veterinary practice, and specifically Dr. McElyea, is how much they educate pet owners. When we got our second cat, they took the time to give us tips on introducing our cats and decreasing aggression. Most recently, Dr, McElyea took the time to brainstorm and share tips of how to help my cat with weight loss. She even calculated the calories per day my cat should be eating and came up with a target weight. I really appreciate the time and effort that the vets put into our cats care. I’d recommend them to anyone in the Nashville area!
We’ve been taking our sweet girl Emmy to Berry Hill Animal Hospital since we adopted her in August 2025, after getting a recommendation from a friend, and we couldn’t be happier. The entire staff is incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely caring. Every visit feels welcoming, and it’s clear how much they truly love animals. We always feel confident that Emmy is in great hands, and she’s always treated like the little star she is. We’re so grateful to have found such a wonderful vet for our baby!

I wanted to update my review after making a last minute appointment on Saturday, June 6, for our new dog, Chili, to see Dr. Miller that morning.
I’ll be honest… I’m intense when it comes to my dogs and I get extremely stressed about any possible illness, pain, or health concern. I probably brought up 10 different concerns during the appointment, and Dr. Miller and the team addressed EVERY single one with patience, kindness, and reassurance.
I left feeling confident that Chili was okay, which lifted a huge weight off my shoulders because I had genuinely been losing sleep panicking in the middle of the night over some of these concerns. Dr. Miller took the time to listen, answer questions, and make sure I felt comfortable before leaving.
I’m incredibly grateful for her help and care, and I truly can’t imagine taking my dogs anywhere else.
