Please think twice before going to Austin Vet Hospital if your pet is need of critical care. I've been a client of AVH for the last 6 years for regular check ups for my dog and it has been fine. When I brought my 9 year old in due to lethargy, loss of mobility, and general concern for her health, I was met with it's either cancer or pneumonia. They ran blood work and chest X-ray and it came back negative, so we were sent home paying $800 with no answers. I called the following day and asked for a tick/Lyme check, and that also came back negative. The doctor asked over the phone if I could pay my invoice for that test... all the while I'm stressing and concerned with my pet who is in declining health. Finally, we got a second opinion from a different vet and found that my pet has two snakebites from a rattlesnake. She has now spent 3 days in the pet ICU on an IV drip and with antivenin. Had Austin Vet Hospital been more throughout with my pet, we could have caught this sooner. I will not be returning as a client and recommend others please advocate for yourself and your pet if you do decide to stick with Austin Vet Hospital.
