Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic

Love this vet office. Been going there over 20 years. Great doctors, great staff, helped me take care of several cats over the decades. Tried a few other vets in Manhattan before I found this one, and Abingdon doctors were by far the best in examining/diagnosing any illnesses and providing appropriate treatment.

Abingdon Square Vet is the absolute best. I switched from a chain vet to this local practice 3 years ago and it was the best decision I could have made for my pup. Prior to switching to Abingdon, my dog was dealing with re-occurring health issues, medical “mysteries” and her previous vet was proposing multiple expensive and invasive surgeries to try and help my dog. All it took was a couple visits with Dr. Reichard at Abingdon to re-asses the situation and 3 years later my dog is healthy as can be, with no surgeries and thousands saved in medical bills! Dr. Reichard has continued to be incredibly kind, intelligent, and a great advocate and listener to what my dog needs. The entire rest of the staff are also incredible, from the technicians to the front desk. Couldn’t recommend more!!

I've been taking my cats to Abingdon Square for nearly 50 years and highly recommend them for their high standard of care and excellent advice. My first cat lived to be 19 and had a high quality of life despite having urinary and kidney disease My current cat is 15 and has IBD and kidney disease and is doing exceptionally well under the care of Dr. Reichard.

The saddest day for our family having to say goodbye to our Lola. The entire staff was empathetic, patient and kind. They kept us informed on the her condition, the process and allowed us to stay by her side to comfort her while she transitioned. It’s the best reciprocal final gift of love. We’re grateful for ASVC.

I’ve been using this veterinary practice for over 11+ years - for both the care of my own pet (cat) as well as for an older friend’s 2 dogs. My friend’s health is frail and I would take her pets in for routine and emergency care. This practice is thorough and every doctor in the practice can always step in when the regular doctor you go to isn’t available. The practice will also create openings for critical needs. The prices are slightly higher than if you go to a smaller independent single doctor practice but the higher prices come with more comprehensive onsite services and diagnostics that they can provide. The vet assistants and other staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable - ALWAYS ensuring your messages get answered. Calls and messages are always handled with the vet often calling you after hours when they are at home themselves. For my personal pet, I see the exceptional Dr. Julia Barnhart who really takes the time with my cat. Dr. Barnhart knows I must often be careful about costs and I’ve found her and all the veterinarians at Abington Square understand these issues and help navigate options that keep my cat healthy and not overwhelm my budget. In short, this practice provides exceptional care and can help animals with all the most recent advances in veterinary medicine and at the same time understands that not all pet parents can afford this highest level of care - so together you can make the best choices in your pet’s care based on quality of life and your financial circumstances. I always say if I were a millionaire I would go to almost any measure no matter the cost to help my cat..but since that’s not the case I do my best. Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic has always been there for me for over a decade of visits.
