I highly recommend John he knows his stuff when it comes to training Bird dogs, my dog not even a year old and doing great on wild birds. Can’t wait to see what she turns into as she gets older, if you’re looking for somebody to train your bird dog, John’s your guy he’s good with the dogs. Good at reading the dogs. As long as John trains dogs I will always take my dogs to him to be trained. Thanks again John

I’ll write a short version and long version after finishing my first year with a Prince dog. Short- John Prince is honest and talented. He produces fine dogs. Longer- when I first called John, he took the time to listen and learn about what I wanted in a dog. He claimed to have a puppy that would be ideal for my situation and my ambitions (knowing not all dogs are the same and neither are their owners). I drove from Mississippi to meet him and was grateful he took the time to show me around his place. After he showed me the puppy, he went further to show me some of the dogs in his program. He let me see them work a little so I could notice the differences. He put my puppy’s dad on a couple birds and said- yours will be just like this one- which is not exactly like the others, but I think it’s right for you. He was correct. My dog is steady, he is strong, he is intelligent, has a motor, and he is fun. He will retrieve on land or in water. He is a better hunter than me, which is proven every time he tracks down a cripple or a runner. Birds cannot run or hide from him. When I went there, I didn’t know if I would buy the puppy he had in mind, or if I would sign up for a different litter. He did not pressure me at all, and made it clear he was there to help me get what I wanted. Mr. Prince was a gracious host and I enjoyed getting to know him. The next morning I bought the puppy (October 2023). A few of his repeat customers happened to be there for the occasion and they were impressed with my little guy, and all spoke with pride on their own Prince dogs. My puppy, Crush, fit into our family right away. My daughter was not quite 5 at the time, and she was in puppy love. He has always been great with her. The time came to send Crush back to John for training. John was up front with me when I purchased the dog, that there would be a wait involved, but he would get my dog trained before his one year old season. I did not do any hunting training prior to being dropped off and sheltered him from gun fire. I never used an e collar, and did not teach him to sit. He only knew basic obedience. A couple months later John told me Crush was ready. Upon picking him up, John put some birds out so I could see his progress. He still had a lot of puppy in him, but he was where I hoped he would be. It was my first year in a new job, so I only hunted him about half as much as I wanted to; however, he proved himself in the toughest conditions from warm weather in Mississippi to late season South Dakota. The terrain does not matter, this dog is going in. The dog communicates with me well. He ranges enough to find birds, but he always checks in. He wears a gps e collar, but I don’t think he needs a collar. He knows what to do without being told (credit to good breeding and good training). I have a few jealous friends by now. The best compliment I received came from an older friend of mine who has hunted over GSP’s for probably 40+ years. He said, “you can just look at him and watch him run for a minute and tell he is the product of excellent breeding. Everything about him is what you would hope for in the breed.” I’m here to tell you, if you buy a dog that was bred well, it will know what to do. That’s what you get with a dog from John Prince. I’m proud of my dog, and I applaud the training and talent Mr. Prince has. Most importantly - John made sure to sell me the dog that was right for me. If you want to go win trophies, John has a dog for you. If you want a family dog that makes a good hunter, John has a dog for you. John sells you the dog you need, and he stands behind it. Side note- while I was there, I saw John conduct transactions with other customers. It is very obvious that his top priority is the customer. He sacrifices opportunities for quick dollars in favor of doing what is right- and that’s why he has so many repeat customers. The time isn’t right for me to get an additional dog, but I’ll go see John when it is time to do it again.

We are very happy with Johns work. He worked with the our two 5 month old GWP's before accepting them to verify the pups would benefit from training. After a quick field test we left them for two weeks. Prior to loading them up and heading home John took us to the field and showed us the progress. The dogs were well engaged and the progress was on point. They will be going back to finish toward the end of the year. We could not have asked for a better job.

Nothing but great things to say about John! He's worked with two of my Brittanys now and I wouldn't consider taking future dogs anywhere else. One dog did not initially show any interest in birds and in just a couple of weeks John was able to turn him around and find his drive. The other one he turned into an absolute hunting machine.

John spent a month with our GSP and turned that dog right around! Woody didn’t trust his nose, didn’t listen in the field, and had the laziest retrieve you’ve ever seen. After a month at Prince’s Quality Gun Dogs, Woody is a hunter! He is laser focused, listens to his nose AND his boss, and has the most beautiful and rock solid point I’ve seen. Trust John, trust the process, and you’ll be rewarded with a solid hunting dog and companion. Thank you, PQGD!
