Hedge Lane Labradors

While Bear is a very sweet, cuddly puppy and we absolutely love him, our experience with the breeder was disappointing. Within the first 24 hours of bringing Bear home, he developed severe diarrhea (approximately 20 bowel movements), bloody stool, yellow eye discharge with swelling, and lethargy. We took him to an emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with Giardia and a double eye infection. I understand Giardia is common in puppies, and I know puppies can become sick. My concern was not that he had Giardia, but that he was diagnosed and symptomatic almost immediately after coming home. I reached out simply to discuss assistance with the unexpected vet expenses since we had not even had him for 24 hours. I was not asking to return Bear or receive a full refund. Unfortunately, I felt my concerns were met with defensiveness rather than understanding. Much of the conversation focused on my demeanor at pickup, the fact that we arrived earlier than expected, and comments I jokingly made about Bear being a “wiggle worm” and having a “stinky butt.” I was also told the breeder had considered refunding my money and not allowing me to take Bear home because those comments made her uncomfortable, which was surprising and upsetting after we had driven five hours and were genuinely excited to meet him. The breeder ultimately reimbursed $35.21 toward the medication costs, which I appreciate, and later acknowledged that our communication could have been handled better and apologized for my experience. I do appreciate that acknowledgment. However, the overall experience left us disappointed. We felt our concerns about Bear’s health were dismissed instead of addressed, and the conversation became centered on defending the breeder rather than discussing the unexpected medical issues our puppy experienced immediately after coming home. Bear is a wonderful puppy, and we are so happy to have him. My disappointment is not with him but with how our concerns were handled. Based on our experience, I would not purchase from this breeder again.

I met Sue Hey of Hedge Lane Labradors about 6 years ago when she was recommended as a breeder with great blood lines and great looking healthy pups! I was looking for a stud for my dog and Sue suggested her Stud Nash and the results of the litters we had were amazing with every new pup owner completely satisfied! When I stopped breeding and some of the owners were looking for some pups of the same bloodline, I introduced them to Sue and they bought one from Nash's bloodline and it only took them a couple of months of owning a Hedge Lane Lab for them to reached out to them again for a brother for their new pup! Sue is amazing and as you can tell from this lengthy review I highly recommend her and Hedge Lane you will not be disappointed!

Hedge Lane Labradors is the best! I have enjoyed working closely with Sue regarding the 2 incredible males that have joined our Family. Sue is very responsive and cares greatly about the homes her pups go to as well as the health and well being of the pups!

Sue is an incredible breeder and cares about her dogs and pups more than herself. She’s very knowledgeable, trustworthy & she breeds the best labs. Also, if you need stud service, she has some of the best! Thank you sweet lady!! We love our penny-pagne!

We got our Charlotte from hedge lane Labradors in August of last year , she is 8 months now and she is so beautiful and very well mannered. She is the sweetest, and has the most shiny coat. Would always recommend hedge lane to anyone who wants a lab. I will never get a lab anywhere else.
