My mom's dog is living a life of pain due to genetic defects. This pain will continue to require heavy medication until he is old enough for surgery. Happy valley did a great job of covering themselves in their contract that basically allows them to screw over customers with no consequences. A replacement dog has been offered, but with the irresponsible breeding practices and lack of accountability it's just too risky to accept another puppy from them. The moral/ethical thing to do would be to either refund my mom the price of the dog or pay for the surgery that would correct the genetic defect, but these people are not moral or ethical. As far as we are aware, the parents of my mom's dog are still going to be used for breeding, even after producing offspring that are genetically defective. Please do your research and find a responsible breeder if you want a Newfoundland puppy that is capable of living a happy, healthy life.

Word is getting around about a dog named Apollo that came from this breeder. He is a one year old Landseer. The owner's are very good people and got severely burned doing business with Happyvalley Newfoundlands. This dog could be in pain for the rest of his life unless he goes through surgery to fix his legs. From what I've heard the vet has labeled this as a genetic issue, even though dogs from this breeder were advertised as having no genetic defects. I can't imagine paying $4,500 non-refundable for a dog that will need probably $10,000 in medical intervention to live a normal life, especially when the owner's are losing out on any potential revenue by being unable to breed him.

I would give zero stars if possible. A family friend of mine purchased a dog from Happeyvalley Newfoundlands to complete a breeding pair with their AKC registered female Newfy. He had a gorgeous Landseer coat and I was very interested in purchasing a puppy from the family friend once their puppy came of age to reproduce. Unfortunately that will never happen. This beautiful dog had to be neutered and cannot be used for responsible breeding because of a genetic defect in his legs. It's horrible to watch this friend struggle with her pup's medical issues. It's also frustrating that I'll have to continue my search for a responsible breeder since my friend's dog can't reproduce now and I can't trust Happyvalley. I sincerely hope that Happyvalley adopts more responsible breeding practices so that others won't have to go through the same frustration and so that more puppies won't have to suffer. The bottom line is that Happyvalleys breeding practices are irresponsible, unsafe, and unethical! They are knowingly selling dogs that have so many issues that they are barley healthy enough to live a normal life, let alone to be used for breeding (an additional cost that my family friend paid for). Happyvalley is cheating people out of not only money but healthy puppies! Do yourself a favor and purchase a puppy from a reputable breeder instead of these despicable people. Happyvalley is no better than a puppy mill, and they need to be held accountable.

Great people who care about their dogs in the breeding program. They treat them like family and care about the genetics and their wellbeing more than anything. The multiple pups that we have got from them have been nothing short of amazing with no issues as we listened to the breeder since they know best

Karen Keller breed’s beautiful Newfoundland dogs. We have our 3rd puppy from her, and he is the sweetest boy ever ! If we ever had any questions, she has always been there for us to guide us. They are healthy, beautiful dogs, and we are so grateful for her.
