We adopted Ralphy and Ruthy, two one-year-old Great Pyrenees/Old English Sheepdog mix pups, almost three months ago and couldn’t be more pleased. We shared with Dottie that it was very important to us that the dogs be comfortable around our grandchildren, and she was more than happy to accommodate an extra visit with the kids. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and truly an expert when it comes to Pyrenees behavior. The adoption process was thoughtful, caring, and focused on making the right match for both the dogs and our family.

The woman who runs this place is absolutely INSANE. I called her asking for resources and right off the bat she judged me and told me I’m trying to get my dog killed and freaked out on me right after saying “I really shouldn’t say this” which proves she knew exactly what she was doing. This woman has no idea how to talk to people in general and should absolutely not be running a business. After I told her I do not want to do business with her and to lose my number she continuously called me over and over then started texting me saying I’m trying to dump my dog and put her on Craigslist when I said nothing about any of those things. It got so bad to where I had to block her number.

Dottie filled a hole in our hearts that could only be healed by adopting another Pyr. She and Amber are shining examples of how experienced Pyr-people know when a perfect match has been achieved. Our new little guy Archie, greeted us with smooches, smiles, and a tail that wagged non-stop. Words really cannot express the thanks we want to share with Dottie and Amber for giving us back a part of our life we thought was lost forever. He's Pyrfect!

This is an amazing rescue that is run by wonderful, compassionate, perceptive people! Dottie Sisco is a strong, persevering soul who competently oversees this rescue even though she is a grandmother! Kudos to this tough, beautiful lady:) These people have devoted, for the most part, their ENTIRE lives to this particular, often-neglected and purchased naively, breed of livestock guardian. A gentle giant of a dog that is so kind and loyal it is reflected in their lovely amber eyes. Each dog or puppy is lovingly accepted into the mix, then carefully assessed to determine what sort of living environment, with what type of family/people they would do best. Some dogs are perfect for families and love being inside, while others might be a bit more aloof or used to "working" (protecting their goats, sheep, chickens, etc...) and might actually enjoy a home with some creatures and some outside duties. Most are nocturnal by nature and tend to be barkers so every potential adopter must be vetted to see what environment they offer and what times of day they are home etc... then dogs that fit those parameters are suggested so everyone has a happily ever after experience - both dog and adopters! I am sure these people have seen the absolute HORRORS of humanity with regard to dogs being turned in, let loose, neglected both physically and emotionally, abused etc...and so please understand the undying commitment and tangible need for this organization to carefully evaluate each prospective adopter and their displeasure at having to accept, yet another, unwanted Great Pyrenees that someone might be looking to "give" them. It must be so difficult to house, care for, rehab, and finally place a NEVER-ENDING influx of these majestic dogs....so please don't be offended if they aren't thrilled that you're giving up your dog/puppy...it's just gotta be beyond frustrating to never get ahead :( If you are a candidate for a giant, intelligent, devoted, protective, patient, warm-hearted dog that will live to potentially be 14 (yep, one of the longest-lived of the giant breeds), and you are responsible and conscientious about being a dog guardian, then by all means contact this rescue and make a date to find yourself and your family an unbeatable canine soulmate! The dogs and the people here are absolutely lovely:)"

We have adopted three Pyrenees through this rescue. The experience we had with the contacts were wonderful. The first time we adopted a pair of adult brother and sister and the volunteer carefully explained to us how we need to take care of them. She even took us to the pet store and showed us what the foster fed the pups, etc. The volunteers for the rescue are real animal lovers, this is definitely a wonderful rescue.
