It all started back in 2016, after nearly a year of research, countless hours of searching, and even a trip to Oklahoma. That’s when Ruger came into our lives. He wasn’t just a dog; he quickly became a cherished member of our family. In 2017, we thought it would be nice to give him a companion, so along came Whiskey. The moment they met, it was as if they’d always known each other. They became inseparable.
At first, we had no plans to breed. We’d even scheduled an appointment to have Whiskey spayed. But, as often happens, nature had other ideas, and it was too late to stop it. Before we knew it, Whiskey was expecting. As I reached out to find forever homes for the puppies, I couldn’t help but remember what it was like searching for Ruger. I discovered so many loving families in the same position I’d been in—wanting an Australian Shepherd but finding it nearly impossible to find one at an affordable price, without the hefty “show dog” cost, and still maintaining the breed’s intelligence and unique characteristics.
For us, though, these dogs are family first. We don’t lock them away for weeks, forcing them to breed. If they want to, they do. If it doesn’t happen, then that’s okay too. Our priority is their happiness and well-being, always.
