Finding CaveInn was one of the best things to happen to our family. I simply cannot imagine our life without our perfect boy, Walter. Penny and Joel were amazing throughout the entire process and made everything easy, smooth and fun. They were extremely thorough and communicative, sending us pictures and updates up until the day we picked our boy up. Our dog is healthy, very well tempered, playful, great with other dogs and beautiful! Truly everything I dreamed for in a dog!!! We will be back to CaveInn to get him a sibling in a few years. Look no further, CaveInn is a phenomenal choice for your pup!

As a veterinarian I am particular about breeders. I feel strongly that with so many dogs in rescues a breeder should be responsibly perpetuating good genetics. I have looked long and often at breeders. The thing that drew me to this breeder is the comprehensiveness of the genetic screening on the breeding pairs. There is never a guarantee when it comes to genetics, but if I can TRY to eliminate common breed issues, then I’m going to do that. Personally I’m not looking for the hunting or show qualifications, I am strictly interested in health and genetic markers for my family pet. This breeder met my standards with the responsible screening and breeding. The pups are raised inside with extensive exposure to common stressors which helps immensely with anxiety issues. I found the breeder to be very responsive (even to my barrage of questions). The pups well socialized and the puppy pens were clean and all dogs were well cared for and the family was lovely and easy to work with! Our pup had big shoes to fill after we lost our 17 year old Labrador. This little girl has been a joy, and is smart, trainable and completely loveable. CaveInn Labs, Thank you for spending the time and money to help perpetuate responsible breeding! If you are looking for a Labrador breeder who is trying to perpetuate the best in the breed, educate yourself about what you are paying for in a breed. Not all breeders are created equal. If you are paying for a dog, make sure you know why! Working with CaveInn met all of my expectations! Thanks so much!!

Cannot say enough good things about CaveInn Labradors, from the initial contact to being an owner for over a year they are wonderful. Penny took the time to answer all of my questions and put my mind at ease. We have two yellows and they are the most even tempered dogs, quick to learn and even quicker to love. Love how you become part of a family when choosing CaveInn, you can be safe knowing your puppy is loved from the very beginning and throughout life.

I cannot speak highly enough about the operation run by Penny & Joel, nor about the quality of the puppy we received from them. After hitting some red flags with another operation more local (in MN) and pulling out, I expanded my search criteria into Iowa and came across CaveInn. Penny was wonderfully responsive to all my emailed/texted/called questions, and they invited us to their property to see their operation (which is part of their home, wonderfully clean, and very personalized). Penny & Joel had no problems with me bringing my family (including small kids) to meet the puppies before making our selection, and were not at all rushed during the visit. They both spent time chatting with us, and it was clear they were deeply invested in developing quality puppies (exposing them to varied experiences & stressors early in life, providing high-quality food, keeping a clean environment, interacting with the puppies a LOT early-on, etc). Using what they learned about my family's needs, they guided our puppy selection to a wonderful temperament fit (we were looking for an active family dog, but not a hunting dog). The process was very transparent: the parents' OFA/etc testing is linked on their webpage, Penny frequently sent information and pictures of the litter, and they provided all of the AKC certification items when the time came. Our dog is now 9 months old. He's very gentle with people (again, including two small kids), and he's respectfully playful with other dogs. He's probably going to grow to 60-65 lbs; 65-lb adult dog in the following pictures for scale. Thank you again, CaveInn!
