Over a year ago I visited this kennel looking for a cavalier for my family. I had researched as much as one possibly could to make sure the breed was a good fit. One of the puppies I was interested in I wasn’t told before hand that they weren’t ready to go yet. I ended up choosing an older male around 5 months. They told me he was recovering from sickness but let me take him home anyway w meds. I took him to the vet and nothing was wrong with him medically. So they were giving him meds he didn’t need instead of a vet prescribing. My guess is nerves/not eating ect. He was pretty thin back then. They told me he as well as some others came from another kennel and they hadn’t had much socialization. In my opinion that makes this kennel look bad. They didn’t want to use him for breeding because he had an underbite and didn’t pass genetic testing. While I do appreciate the fact they do genetic testing this other kennel does not seem like one they should do business with. I was told “he’ll come around”. Wrong. While he has changed quite a bit especially since I had him neutered he still does not fit the Cavalier name. He is more like a Chihuahua minus the snappy attitude. He gets so nervous sometimes. Despite everyone’s efforts. He’s very finicky. I am constantly jumping through hoops in order to do simple things like feeding, letting out ect. No idea what happened to him upon this kennel purchasing him. I will say I felt very sorry for him. No puppy should go without socialization nor treated as disposable. When I first took him in he wouldn’t eat at all. I had to spoon feed him. I imagine not every puppy/dog can overcome no socialization and be completely normal. He will not go potty outside for anyone but me. He is mostly glued to me. He is also a lot smaller than a normal sized cavalier. My vet even pointed this out as a well as his skittish temperament. While I love him I do wish things turned out a little differently with him although it’s not his fault. He’s not too thin anymore and a little more out going but still nervous a lot. He’s a Velcro dog. While maybe if I picked out one this kennel raised from a puppy AND the parents things may have been a bit different. Who knows. This is what happens when money comes first. None the less this kennel definitly has some responsibility in this. Giving 3 stars bc of the genetic testing done AND the kennel was very clean. They are also sanitary in how they handle things. Washing hands ect. Not entering the kennel itself but you can see through the door.

We bought a puppy from Burris Ridge this past weekend. We came from Michigan and they made it really easy to choose and pick him up. They were very responsive when I had questions, their facility was beautiful and clean. I’d recommend them 100%!

I've gotten 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and I couldn't be happier! My CKCs Milo and Reuben are both loving, cuddly, playful, smart, boys. The have great genetics and they retain their training and information fantasticly. They were both so easy to train and fun to teach (I even taught Milo to boop). Burris Ridge Kennels is my go to CKC breeder and I would recommend them to anyone who wanted this wonderful breed's loyalty.
