What to ask a German Shepherd breeder
Ask for both parents' results for OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), Cardiac OFA. Results should be checkable by OFA or registry number, not a verbal assurance.
Breeder licensing in Maryland
Maryland requires a Kennel license, issued by the county animal control / local licensing agency, not by the state if you meet 6 or more intact females (unspayed females over 6 months kept for breeding and selling offspring) or 6 or more litters.
No state issues a breed-specific breeder license, and a state license never replaces a USDA license or local zoning.
