What to ask a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeder
Ask for both parents' results for Cardiac Auscultation, MRI Syringomyelia, Patellar Luxation, Eye CERF, Episodic Falling (EF). Results should be checkable by OFA or registry number, not a verbal assurance.
Breeder licensing in Maryland
Maryland requires a Kennel license, issued by the county animal control / local licensing agency, not by the state if you meet 6 or more intact females (unspayed females over 6 months kept for breeding and selling offspring) or 6 or more litters.
No state issues a breed-specific breeder license, and a state license never replaces a USDA license or local zoning.
