The Family Shih Tzu

We love our puppy from The Family Shitzu! Karl is very professional and loves his pups. He registered our pup with the AKC, as well as, registering her microchip! He was patient in answering all of my questions! I highly recommend this breeder!

I began my journey with Family Shih Tzu back in November 2024 when I reached out expressing interest in a puppy—specifically a little brown male. From day one, their communication and professionalism were impressive. They were upfront about the expected 3–6 month wait, which I appreciated. In February 2025 they contacted me about a tuxedo male that had become available. Even though he was adorable, I still had my heart set on a brown Shih Tzu. They were incredibly understanding, sent photos and videos without hesitation, explained the process clearly (especially important since I live in Alaska and they are in Gilbert, AZ), and kept me on the list for the next brown male. As the months went on, they stayed in touch and continued updating me about upcoming litters. When the April litter arrived, the one brown male was chosen by the family ahead of me. Again, they were so flexible—allowing me to stay on the list for the next litter, where I moved up to the #1 spot. In November 2025, I finally got the message I’d been waiting for: a new litter of five little boys, including two brown males! I selected one, and he would be ready in December. I let them know I’d be out of the country over the holidays and wouldn’t be able to get to Phoenix until mid-January. They were incredibly accommodating and worked with my travel schedule without any issues. I picked up my little guy (Jack) on January 13, 2026—and he is absolutely perfect. The cutest roly‑poly bundle of joy! He has been such a delight in our home, and we are completely in love with him. Family Shih Tzu is truly an exceptional breeder—professional, responsive, caring, and wonderful to work with from start to finish. They kept me updated every step of the way, were patient with my preferences, and genuinely wanted to match me with the right puppy. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Shih Tzu puppy. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in their communication, their process, and the happy, healthy puppies they raise. We had a great experience — we ended up getting 2 puppies and everything worked out fabulous. We highly recommend working with Karl - as the knowledge and the experience and really walked us through some of the details to make sure that everything went smooth - the puppies are perfect !! Will never again buy from a store -this professional route is safer !

We had an excellent experience. We saw our puppy and met with Rachel and Karl 3 times before taking our sweet puppy home. Each time they were very thorough in answering all our questions and providing necessary education about Shih Tzus and how to properly care for them. They micro chipped our pup, helped us register our pup on the AKC website, enroll for pet insurance and even provided a bag of puppy food. Rachel and Karl are friendly, kind and knowledgeable and most importantly they care about the welfare of their pups. I would not hesitate to purchase a puppy with them and in fact we plan on another in the near future. We love our puppy August and he is now a member of our family for life thanks to Rachel and Karl.
