Maricopa County Animal Care and Control - West Valley Shelter

I just adopted a beautiful young pitbull for my family. The experience was great, although the customer service was horrible. The older female representative with blonde hair and blue eyes working adoption at the front desk had the worse attitude. I can tell by her energy she was annoyed and irritated. When walking up to the counter she calls up “next” but while I patiently wait for her assistance she proceeds to talk with another coworker rather then helping me to get the meet and greet started, which I thought was very rude since if you’re aren’t ready to help people don’t call up “next”. Then her tone of voice the whole conversation was very belittling and judgmental as she asked her questions and gave me information. Telling me how “smart” it would be to update contact info for a previously rehomed pet after I explained to her I gave the new owner the recuse dog’s information to update and transfer pet under their name. OUTSIDE OF HER, the person who did my meet and greet and finalized my adoption was very friendly and welcoming making my experience a little better which I am grateful for, but for the sake of the company customer service needs improvement with certain reps. We’re here to give these animals loving homes to live an amazing life despite their past and shouldn’t be treated with disrespect because someone is having a bad day. My babygirl is adjusting great and really is the perfect dog already! We’re excited to take on this new chapter and appreciate the opportunity nonetheless.

31 August, we went to adopt Trooper, an almost 9 yo German Shepherd. At that time there were 96 GSDs available. I have never had a bad experience with MCACC- West. All four of our current dogs came from this facility. The assessments of Trooper were pretty good. They said that he was good with other dogs, Trooper gets along spendidly with our 2 prina donas and my elderly crippled Alpha GSD. His basic obedience skills are very basic, possibly over stated. His kennel was clean but he was shutting down due to abandonment and the gawd awful noise levels (Unavoidable). I don't think that anyone really noted his apprehension with men or that sudden movements made him anxious, easily missed though. He was abused by a man but he's coming around. Thank you, MCACC West for Trooper Thorn, my new companion.

Our first experience here yesterday was amazing, and the staff are incredibly friendly! They let us walk through the buildings to see all the dogs & cats (even though we were only looking for a cat, it was still nice to see the dogs💖) It got busier later in the day, but it wasn't too bad unless you're looking for a very intimate meeting. I'd suggest to ask for days & times when they aren't too busy to accommodate you. The staff we met really cared for the animals here, and were so helpful! It was a clean facility, just a little confusing, but if you asked anyone for help or directions, they'd happily help you! We are so happy to have met & adopted this beautiful girl! She was named Coco there, but we decided to name her Lychee instead. On her profile it stated that she wasn't very sociable, and was labeled as "feral", but we met her and she was the sweetest little thing! A few people met her before us, and said she wasn't too keen about them or being picked up, and so they decided not to get her. Our meeting with her went completely differently in the best way possible. As soon as she got home, she was ready to explore, playful, affectionate, and super gentle! She's my boyfriend's first cat, and she makes a wonderful one at that. They provide you with their paperwork, medical records, info, etc, and even guides/care instructions to take home! I'd suggest to bring your own carrier though, but they do sell cardboard carriers for $8. Overall, I highly recommend adopting/fostering with them. It was a great experience, and they do an amazing job here.

Maricopa animal care farmed out animal licensing to Docue pet,,,which is a lousy online system,,it’s not very senior friendly and it appeared to push selling designer dog tags,,way to maricopa 👎

Adopted a puppy 3 days ago here, came back today to adopt another dog. Thought I’d bring the first pup to see how an older senior dog would do with her that I wanted to adopt. Staff member in the parking lot ASSUMED I was bringing the puppy back to surrender and she went off. If you don’t know what’s going on with clients, it’s best you keep your mouth shut. I will never adopt another dog from them. As rude as she was, makes me wonder how the animals are treated. Staff isn’t helpful or decent to clients. Your staff cost you another adoption today. I will find a different shelter/rescue for a senior family member (dog). Awful and shame on you.
